polar bear Ancestry evidence
Recently studies reveal DNA of brown bears in polar bears. The polar bears' ancestors were all traced from bones found in caves in Ireland. Scientists found that the second species split from its ancestor. As scientists performed DNA testing they could trace in all polar bears maternal lineage from the brown bear. Also found in these brown bears are a certain mitochondrial sequence. This sequence found in the ancestors has taken over the previous sequence in all of these polar bears.
